For Great food and service at a great price we highly recommend the restaurant, Piccolo, Sal Negra, Sama Sama and Watermelon in San Telmo which are part of the grupopiccolo chain and also Agua y Sal in Tajao. All Serving a vast selection of food and superb wine.
We were recommended these restaurants by a good Spanish friend of ours in 2008. We first started going to Watermelon which has a Mediterranean themed ambience serving good meat dishes but also Pasta and Salads. We then realised that the restaurants were owned by the same group headed by the charismatic Fernando (Nando) so started to use the other restaurants. We then sampled Sal Negra, which specialises in fish but also has good Italian food, Sama Sama which is Italian / Mediterranean and Piccolo which is the most authentic Italian of them all.
Heading 20 minutes east there is a small fishing town called Tajao. Here is their latest restaurant to have been opened in 2015. This is a traditional fish restaurant and set in an atmosphere an olde, worlde rugged Spanish coastal town. Clients travel miles to come to this lovely new restaurant adding a different dimension to the already successful group. Booking is advisable, such is the popularity of them all but if you are passing and want to try, as they will always do their best to accommodate you.
