1. Teide National Park
When asked “what to do in Tenerife”, the first thing that springs to mind is visiting Teide National Park. It is the biggest park in the whole of the Canary Islands, not just Tenerife. It boasts a unique landscape of craters, volcanoes and rivers of petrified lava that all surround the focal point of Mount Teide: which at an impressive 3,718 meters high, is the highest mountain in Spain.
2. Los Gigantes Cliffs
Los Gigantes is a resort town in Santiago del Teide, located on the west coast of Tenerife. It’s a secluded area and somewhere you don’t want to miss! The Los Gigantes cliffs form part of the Teno Rural Park and are a breath-taking natural landscape. The cliffs themselves rise approximately 500-800 meters above the water and can be seen throughout the area. To get the best views of the Los Gigantes cliffs, there’s a place called Mirador Archipenque, which is the perfect spot for seeing the cliffs. Alternatively, the Masca walking trail - which is a tricky hike ideal for those who love being outside - is a fantastic way to see the cliffs up close and personal.
3. Siam Water Park
Voted the best water park in the world two times in a row, Siam Water Park is a Thai-themed aquatic playground. There’s a collection of water slides and pools to enjoy, ranging from the Tower of Power slide, which plummets you down a near-vertical 90ft drop, to the lazy river. The park itself covers 48 acres, so you can sure to find something that you can enjoy here.
4. Loro Parque
Located in Puerto de la Cruz, Loro Parque is one of the most popular things to do in Tenerife. The park has a wide range of animals for people to view, including whales, sea lions, tigers, chimps and alligators. What’s more, as well as the animals, there an array of other attractions on offer, so you can really make a day out of it at Loro Parque. While there, you can also pay a visit to an aquarium, jungle area, play area and a Thia village.
5. Beach Days
Thanks to Tenerife’s impressive coastline, there a vast choice of beaches where you can spend your days soaking up the sun. There are 41 miles of beaches to explore, ranging from ones with soft, golden sand to those with black volcanic sand. Some of the best beaches in Tenerife are:

Bottlenose dolphins, Sperm whales, Pilot whales and Risso dolphins are all frequently spotted in the waters around the Canary Islands, with other species also being seen from time to time. If you’re lucky, you may also see turtles, sharks, osprey and kestrels.
7. Museum of Science and the Cosmos
Despite the amount of sunshine in Tenerife and high temperatures, there may still be the odd rainy day where you’re looking for something to do indoors. If you need a break from the warm weather, why not pay the Museum of Science and the Cosmos a visit? It’s a unique place that offers visitors the chance to learn everything from the way in which the human body works to the movements of the stars.
8. Cueva del Viento Cave
Icod de los Vinos, located in the north east of Tenerife, is where you will find the Cueva del Viento-Sobrado caves. As Europe's largest lava tube, its underground passageways form tunnels that cover 10 miles. While exploring, keep your eyes open for fossils, lava stalactites and lava lakes. It’s said that there are 190 species of insects which live in the tunnels: do you know how many of them you’ll be able to name?
9. Bajamar Natural Pools
If you want to dip your body into the water but fancy something different to a beach, the natural pools of Bajamar are the perfect solution. There are two large pools and a smaller one for children, which makes this a great activity for the whole family. Situated in La Laguna, Bajamar is known as one of the best natural and family-friendly water parks n the area. Lifeguards are present, keeping this a safe space. It’s found right on the coast, so watch out for any high waves on the days when the sea is rough.
10. Hiking
Tenerife offers some beautiful walking routes that are perfect for hiking. Whether you want a gentle stroll or something more adventurous, there’ll be a hike in Tenerife to suit your abilities. Some of the best walks in Tenerife include:
